4. The ally

The main goal of this technique is to encourage you to discover your inner family of allies. You have within you a cohort of allies who can help you. Practicing the ally technique is a bit like stepping into a kitchen where you’re the head chef, with an entire brigade at your disposal to prepare any dish you dream of. This technique gives access to a wide variety of resources suited to all your goals. Diving into the ally technique means connecting with your different inner facets in order to maximize their full potential.

This technique is meant as an exploration aimed at gaining support, gathering advice, shifting your perceptions, or developing another point of view. You can also integrate the unique qualities (listening, versatility, femininity, courage, etc.) of several of your allies, draw encouragement from them, or share in their source of inspiration.

You can call on your allies to unblock a situation or to see a project through by finding your own solutions. Without a doubt, the support of your allies can prove highly beneficial in discovering and integrating abilities you didn’t even know you had.

You carry within you an unlimited number of resources that are usually ignored. Yet they are accessible in your inner world in the form of archetypal allies. Get ready to be pleasantly surprised.

Meeting an archetypal ally in a state of trance means awakening, stimulating and mobilizing that part of you in a metaphorical way. Over time, you’ll learn to get to know these many facets of your unconscious better. You’ll even come to build distinct relationships with your different archetypal allies. This will make it possible for you to call on them across all of the Méthode Dolfino® techniques.

But who are these allies, so versatile and so helpful?

Your inner allies can take on a multitude of forms. You’re the one who chooses them — or rather your Young Me does, based on your goal and your needs. You’ll see that in certain situations, an ant can be far more useful than an ogre. Here are some examples of the forms they can take:

Mineral, such as a stone, a crystal, a mountain, a planet, etc.

Plant, such as mushrooms, flowers, trees, algae, lichen, etc.

Human, such as a healer, a teacher, a visionary, a traveller, etc.

Animal, such as a mammal, a reptile, a bird or even an insect

Divine (deity), such as a figure of spiritual wisdom, a goddess, a mythological representation, etc.

Arising from the collective unconscious, archetypal allies don’t belong to anyone in particular. That means several people can carry the same ally within them. Likewise, a single person can live alongside several allies. You’ll see — it grows on you quickly.

That said, as in any healthy relationship, the principle of “give and take” applies. This means the quality of support you receive from your allies will be proportional to the investment you put into your relationship with them. For example, if one of your allies turns out to be a raccoon who loves games of hide and seek, it will be your responsibility to take the time to visit it and thank it regularly for the help it gives you, by playing with it often during your self-hypnosis sessions, your dreams and other meditations. It’s a relationship built on reciprocity.

This technique is described as guidance for a third person. In self-hypnosis, follow the steps while guiding yourself.

Begin the technique by placing the person at the entrance of a path in the middle of nature.

Have them move forward along this path leading to a clearing in the forest. It’s important that they move without their feet touching the ground.

Have them discover a sacred space at the heart of this clearing. Ask questions. Have them describe this sacred space.

Have them prepare a bonfire in order to bring light and warmth as night gradually falls.

Have the person focus their full attention on the environment. What do you see? What do you hear? What do you feel in your body? Are there any particular smells? (VAKOG)

Have them observe their surroundings closely to make out how it approaches, its shape and its movements.

Clarify the image enough to be able to see the ally’s eyes, then let it approach the fire and settle in as it wishes.

Then, take some time to exchange with it. Ask it questions... Ask it for advice... Listen to its teachings... The person should pay close attention to its unique way of conveying messages (verbally, through its attitude, through its gestures, through what it radiates, etc.).

Then ask it whether it agrees to become an inner ally.

Discover with it what its qualities are. Does the beaver share its sense of family and its motivation to work? Does the lilac highlight a glimpse of collective beauty? Does the rock cliff bring you back to inner steadiness? Does the butterfly encourage you to make room for all of your colors?

Ask it what it would like as a gift or a symbolic gesture in exchange for the help it gives you. Some allies like songs and dance. Others prefer to play, to receive flowers, or to be fed, while others still enjoy spending time doing a different activity at each meeting.

Check with the ally what its own particular way is of warning the guided person, should it need to alert them about something, or if it decides to make its presence known regarding a goal.

The ally always has an excellent reason for making its presence known or for lending its help. For example, if a person has a yoga master as an ally to support them in managing their stress, that ally’s role will likely be to warn them when the inner tension tied to stress becomes too present. And this yoga master might choose to do so by tickling their nose, to prompt them not to forget to breathe deeply as often as needed...

Option: unite with the ally to allow deep integration of its attitude, its qualities and its abilities.
