The metaphorical tools

Here are the four main tools for activating your full potential:

Most blockages are recorded in the unconscious. But the unconscious does not understand logical reasoning or elaborate rational explanations. In fact, the clearest and most effective way to communicate with the unconscious is through symbols and metaphors.

Whether used alone or woven into the various games, metaphors are one of the most valuable tools of the Méthode Dolfino®. Concretely, metaphors are stories, tales, and allegories that offer indirect solutions to a problem. These stories speak directly to your unconscious.

Since your mind welcomes these stories without raising any barriers, they make it possible, very subtly, to present options, ideas, and new ways of seeing things, without ever imposing them.

Most of the time, the solutions suggested in a metaphor are not adopted as is. Instead, they act as a springboard to inspire better ones, better suited to the lived experience of the person concerned. The metaphor opens up the field of possibilities and encourages solutions to quietly take root within you. These short stories, which sometimes present surprising facts or unexpected conclusions, can also help bring about a quick realization.

Here is an example of a metaphor that can be used when the person you are guiding feels unable to take action, afraid of not succeeding:

Shortly after being born at the circus, a baby elephant was tied to a large stake firmly planted in the ground. At first, he tried to break free, but the stake was too strong and he could not get loose.

Although his attempts to free himself from the stake continued for some time, he eventually stopped trying to pull it out of the ground. Two years passed. Whenever the elephant wasn’t performing, he remained tied to that stake. Yet by then he had grown so strong that he could have pulled the stake out of the ground as easily as a toothpick.

What’s astonishing is that despite this great strength, the elephant never again tried to free himself from that stake.

Méthode Dolfino® is built around several techniques, or games, that are structured in clear steps to allow you to guide someone else or guide yourself. Each of these games can be used or adapted according to your needs and your reality (or that of the person you’re guiding).

Each technique presented will adapt to the personalized goals of your own journey or of the person you’re accompanying. Over the course of a single session, you can combine different games and techniques to speed up transformations and optimize results.

The imagination is put to heavy use here. Using the “Mini-Me” consists of visualizing a group of “mini versions of yourself” dedicated to carrying out certain specific tasks during a hypnosis session.

For example, if during a session aimed at relieving elbow pain, you could invite them to create a team of elbow-cleaning specialists who will happily split up the tasks in order to:

With all the tasks they can perform, the “Mini-Me” trigger an acceleration of transformations, all while staying within the symbolic. They’re mainly used during guidances with a goal tied to the physical body.

We’ll also call on archetypes. These are universal symbols associated with different ideas and beliefs. For example, the elephant is associated with memory. In the same way, the mountain, the river and the cave carry very particular meanings for the unconscious. By improving them, you signal to your unconscious, in its own language, the changes you wish to make.

Working with archetypes makes it possible to reach goals of a psycho-emotional nature as well as physical ones.

Méthode Dolfino® encourages the use of prescriptions, also called metaphorical acts.

These are gestures made with intention, meant to make the work done during a session more concrete. These actions above all let you bring more pleasure into your daily life and encourage positive changes in your lifestyle. Following a session, they serve to inform your unconscious of your intention to change.

As the author and therapist Alejandro Jodorowsky puts it so well: “... It’s like giving reality an affectionate kick in the ass. That surprising push you give it pulls it out of inertia, and it starts to dance.”
