The 4 main tools of the Dolfino method

Blog

Did you know that the more the body and senses are involved in learning, the stronger the neural imprint becomes? It’s on this basis that the teaching model of Méthode Dolfino® is built, in order to stimulate several brain areas by creating new neural networks for a better assimilation of the experimentation and the teaching content.

Here are the four main tools of the Dolfino method:

1. Metaphors

It’s in the unconscious that most blockages are stored. Yet the unconscious doesn’t understand logical reasoning or lengthy rational explanations. In fact, the clearest and most effective way to communicate with the unconscious is through symbols and metaphors.

Alone, or woven into the heart of the various games, metaphors are one of the most valuable tools of Méthode Dolfino®. Concretely, metaphors are stories, tales and allegories that offer indirect solutions to resolve a problem. These stories speak directly to your unconscious.

Since your mind welcomes these stories without raising any barriers, this makes it possible, in a very subtle way, to present options, ideas and new ways of seeing things, without ever imposing them.

Most of the time, the solutions suggested in a metaphor are not adopted exactly as they are. Rather, they serve as a springboard to inspire better ones, ones that will be better suited to the lived experience of the person concerned. The metaphor opens the field of possibilities and encourages solutions to quietly germinate inside you. These short stories, which sometimes present surprising facts or unexpected conclusions, can also serve to bring about a quick realization.

Here is an example of a metaphor that can be used when the person you are guiding feels unable to take action, when they are afraid of not succeeding:

THE CHAINED ELEPHANT - Shortly after being born at the circus, a baby elephant was tied to a large stake firmly planted in the ground. At first, it tried to free itself, but the stake was too strong and it could not manage it. Although its efforts to break free from the stake continued for some time, it eventually stopped trying to pull it out of the ground. Two years passed. When the elephant was not performing, it remained tied to that stake. Yet, having grown, the elephant now had the strength to pull the stake out of the ground as though it were nothing more than a simple toothpick. What is astonishing is that despite this great strength, the elephant never again tried to free itself from that stake.

2. Dolfino games and techniques.

The Méthode Dolfino® is built around several techniques or games structured in clear steps to allow you to guide another person or guide yourself. Each of these games can be used or adapted according to your needs and your reality (or that of the person being guided).

This should help you to:

  • Resolve certain problems
  • Activate inner resources
  • Generate inspiration
  • Initiate changes to support well-being
  • Reach your goals

Each technique presented will adapt to the personalized goals of your own journey or that of the person you are guiding. Within a single session, you can combine different games and techniques to speed up transformations and optimize results.

3. “Mini-Mes” and archetypes.

The imagination is put to extensive use here. Using “Mini-Mes” involves visualizing a group of “mini versions of yourself” dedicated to carrying out certain specific tasks during a hypnosis session. For example, if during a session aimed at relieving pain in the elbow, you could invite them to create a team of elbow-cleaning specialists who will gladly divide up the tasks in order to:

  • Clear away
  • Soap up
  • Tidy up
  • Loosen
  • Drain

With all the tasks they can perform, the “Mini-Mes” trigger an acceleration of transformations, all while staying within the symbolic. They’re mainly used in guidances with an objective related to the physical body.

We’ll also draw on archetypes. These are universal symbols associated with different ideas and beliefs. For example, the elephant is associated with memory. In the same way, the mountain, the river and the cave carry very specific meanings for the unconscious. By enhancing them, you show your unconscious, in its own language, the changes you wish for. Working with archetypes lets you reach both psycho-emotional and physical goals.

4. Metaphorical prescriptions.

Méthode Dolfino® encourages the use of prescriptions, also called metaphorical acts. These are gestures performed with intention, meant to make the work done during a session more concrete. Above all, these actions let you bring more pleasure into your everyday life and encourage positive changes in your lifestyle. After a session, they serve to inform your unconscious of your intention to change. As the author and therapist Alejandro Jodorowsky so aptly puts it: “… It’s like giving reality an affectionate kick in the ass. That surprising push you give it pulls it out of inertia, and it starts to dance.”

Here are a few examples of metaphorical prescriptions:

  • Put a small pebble in a jar each time you avoid smoking a cigarette.
  • Write yourself a love letter and mail it to yourself.
  • Mindfully grow a flower to maturity and give it to someone with whom you may have relationship difficulties
