I killed to protect him

Blog

My son Tao just turned two. Yesterday he had a wet bottom, a smile from ear to ear, and sand all through his hair. Pure happiness! Yet a sneaky danger was lurking around him... jellyfish!Every time I saw one approaching him, I steered it toward the shore and planted a rock in its body before burying it in the sand. Oh! The horrible things I’ll do to protect my little guy!!!Is that really the best solution?Actually, there are more and more jellyfish in the oceans. People are even talking about a “jellification” of marine spaces, which seems to be caused by overfishing. So, to really protect my little guy while he splashes around in the ocean, the ideal thing would be for me to start a movement to reduce fish consumption. That’s more ambitious, sure(!), but it would have far deeper benefits, both for swimmers’ safety and for the overall health of the oceans. In the same way, your inner world can be subject to a proliferation of “stinging” emotions

  • The fear of failure that paralyzes you
  • The anger of a romantic betrayal
  • The shame of having killed jellyfish! ;-)

You can chase these emotions away, bury them, “reason” them out... it works for a moment. My son also got a break each time I killed a jellyfish, but others always ended up coming back. As long as you haven’t gone to the root of the problem, they will keep coming back.

By the way, what is its origin?

Your deepest emotions and beliefs are managed by your unconscious. Your rational mind has very little influence over them. That’s why the necessary transformations must happen at the level of the unconscious.

How can you bring about change?

Fortunately, it’s much easier than reducing the world’s fish consumption! All you need to do is speak to your unconscious in its own language: that of symbols, imagination and metaphors. For example, if you feel sadness, you can “symbolize” it. This is very easy to do while you are in hypnotic trance.

  • Where is it? (in the heart, the stomach...)
  • What color is it?
  • What shape does it take?

This sadness will be for you a rock, an ocean, or even a knife stuck in your heart. You can then imagine a way to remove it and replace it with something more beautiful for you. In doing so, you tell your mind “I don’t want this knife that hurts me so much, I want to feel light as a rainbow.” That’s the first step: telling your unconscious, in its own language, what you want. In some cases, that will be enough; in others, you’ll need to go deeper. There are dozens of tricks and techniques for doing this that all share one thing in common: you make contact with your inner world and transform it yourself so that it becomes more beautiful, harmonious and powerful. And in doing so, you can free yourself from pain, fears, dependencies and much more.
